Canadian Event Awards 2023
Most Creative Floral Design In Canada. Again.
Bespoke Blossoms has been awarded by the Canadian Event Awards and Canadian Special Events for the 2023 Most Creative Floral Design.
We are stunned.
The Canadian Event Awards is a judged, national level competition, primarily targeted towards event and wedding planners, and celebrating achievement and excellence within the Canadian events industry. It also hosts the only national level award for floral design available in Canada - the award for Most Creative Floral Design. To be a finalist in these awards is to be considered among the best event professionals in Canada.
For our entry, we submitted the flower wall installation we built for the Rally for Ukraine. When we submit entries for these competitions, especially this one, we never consider that we might stand a chance. There are so many incredibly talented florists in Canada, and we’re just a small fish in a big pond. When we were informed that we were finalists, we were in shock.
We hopped on a plane out to Toronto with the wonderful women from The Good Party, who were also finalists in two categories, and donned our best duds. It was an evening of nervous anticipation, cocktails, food, and entertainment. When we did this in the past, it was during the pandemic, so this was our first in person trip to this awards gala. I really don’t think we fully understood the scale and capability of the vendors that were a part of this competition.
As they announced our category, we were inspired by the work that fellow finalists had submitted. R5 Event Design and Fab Fete from Toronto collaborated to produce an amazing wedding tablescape. Their entry, Christine’s Butterflies was extraordinary, highly technical, and truly pulled thematic elements through the entire event. Also submitted was the Peacock Fusion piece from Karma Design Studios out of Brampton, ON. This piece integrated cascading tropical flowers, peacock feathers, and bead garlands into a showstopping peacock sculpture to create a seven foot tall statement piece amongst one of the most stunning and structural South Indian weddings we’ve seen. (There is currently a video on their facebook page, but we’ll post a hardlink when it’s up).
They were nothing short of incredible and we applaud the ingenuity of their creators. It’s a tremendous honour and incredibly humbling to be considered among these giants.
Our entree was for work that we did with the Victoria BC Chapter of the Ukrainian Congress of Canada. As such we ask that you consider donating and supporting them in their effort to provide food, transportation, housing, and livelihood to Ukrainian refugees who have been displaced by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. If you already have, thank you, and please consider continuing your contributions. If you can’t donate money, there are many ways that you can volunteer your time. Reach out to them and see what they might need. This is a meaningful effort, and we’ve seen the results of it first hand.
To the people of Victoria and Vancouver Island that attended this rally, lent their support and love, and came together as a community: Thank you.
To the other finalists R5 Events, Fab Fete, and Karma Design Studios: We can’t believe the work you’ve done. Thank you for setting a high bar. We look forward to seeing you again.
To our vendors, particularly JL Fresh, who donated much of the product for this installation, and Eurosa - we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you.
To Angie from Myrtle and Moss: You captured some incredible human moments on film. You truly see the moment and you’re a stone cold hawtie. Thank you.
To the Bespoke Blossoms team: How could we do this without you? We have the most hardworking, dedicated, creative, and fantastic team we could imagine. You’re all beautiful and we love you - Thank you.
